Associate Extension Agent, SNAP-Ed
SNAP-Ed Extension Agents work to make healthy choices easier and more desirable for limited-resource adults and youth. They do this by:
- Training volunteers to teach nutrition and community health programs and
- Providing support for policy, systems, and environmental change to increase healthy behaviors.
SNAP-Ed programs focus on basic nutrition, physical activity, safe food handling, and thrifty food shopping. Agents work with schools, afterschool programs, places of worship, farmers markets, food banks, job training programs, and food retail stores.
Rachel serves eight counties in her role: Roanoke, Bedford, Franklin, Montgomery, Craig, Floyd, Giles, and Patrick.
